Some 1,000 COVID Patients at ICUs in Iran


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Of the patients diagnosed with the coronavirus infection in Iran, fewer than 1,000 are in the intensive care units of hospitals.

The Iranian Health Ministry said on Tuesday that 997 COVID-19 patients in the country are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities.

The death toll from the pandemic in Iran has risen to 141,024, as 28 more Iranians have succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours, it said.

Over the last 24 hours, 1,307 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 251 of them hospitalized, it added.

The Health Ministry also said more than 6.97 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 7,218,400 who have contracted the disease.

The ministry added that over 64.29 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 57.49 million have received the second dosage, and more than 26.95 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 510 million and the death toll has exceeded 6.24 million.
