TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The bulk of shrimps produced in Iran are exported to China, an official said.

The head of Iran Fisheries Organization in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan said the major part of shrimps produced in Iran is exported to China.

China and Thailand are the main customers of the fish that are not favorable for the domestic market, Arash Sanaei added.

He noted that Russia has recently shown an interest in importing Iranian tuna fish.

The canned tuna fish made in Iran is being exported to many countries, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Pakistan, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria, he added.

According to Sanaei, Sistan and Baluchestan province accounts for more than 70 percent of the tuna fish caught in the Iranian waters.
