Speaking in a meeting with Pakistan’s Minister of Energy Muhammad Ali in Tehran on Thursday, Ali Akbar Mehrabian stated, “The development projects in the Gwadar area of Pakistan need at least 2,000 megawatts of electricity.”

He added that Iran is prepared to supply Pakistan with the needed electricity.

Tehran and Islamabad enjoy high potentials in different fields to develop their relations, Mehrabian stated.

He went on to say that Iran is ready to embark on investing as a joint venture for the exchange of electricity with Pakistan.

During the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the 23rd edition of the Iran International Electricity Exhibition (IEE), the two sides emphasized the need for enhancing bilateral relations in the energy sector in particular.

The visiting Pakistani minister of energy proposed the necessity of setting up a joint technical working group in the field of energy in line with the acceleration of the projects.

Iran is one of the best options for supplying the energy needed in Pakistan, Muhammad Ali said, putting the electricity capacity installed in Pakistan at about 40,000 megawatts.

The 23 Iran International Electricity Exhibition (IEE) and 1st Iran Electricity Industry Tech Market Festival kicked off at Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds on November 14 with the participation of competent domestic and foreign companies.
