IRGC Chief Vows Revenge in Funeral of Kerman Attack Victims

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – During a funeral service for 85 people that died in a terrorist attack in Iran’s southern city of Kerman on January 3, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps vowed a terrible revenge for the heinous crime.

A vast crowd on Friday attended the funeral of the victims of the terrorist attack in Kerman.

The Wednesday's twin blasts at an event held in commemoration of the fourth anniversary of the martyrdom of late commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani resulted in the tragic loss of 89 lives, including 9 children, and left nearly 300 individuals injured, with some in critical condition.

Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack on Thursday.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has warned that those behind the terrorist act will receive a severe response.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi canceled his planned visits to Turkey and to the province of Zanjan in the wake of the tragic attack. He arrived in Kerman early Friday to pay tribute to the victims and visit the injured ones at the hospitals.

Addressing the funeral service in Kerman on Friday, IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami assured the mourners that Iran will exact revenge against the enemies for the terrorist attack.

Paying homage to General Soleimani as a popular anti-terror commander that fought against and eradicated Daesh, the IRGC chief said the notorious Daesh elements are not in control of any area in the world and “can only act as proxies for the US and Zionism.”

General Salami noted that the revenge on the enemies have been already taken, pointing to the US’ humiliating defeats in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and Lebanon.

The US has withdrawn its forces almost completely from the Persian Gulf and the region, the IRGC commander said, adding that no American official can now visit a Muslim state in the region.

He also highlighted the Zionist regime’s frustration in the “quagmire of Gaza”, saying Iran has dealt “heavy, painful, and unbearable” blows to the Israeli regime and the US.
