Iran Exports $310 Million of Fishery Products in One Year: IRICA


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran exported $310 million of fishery products in the previous Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2023 to March 19, 2024), registering a 3% surge compared to a year earlier, the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) reported.

Nearly 149,000 tons of fishery products were exported from the country last year, showing a 12% growth compared to a year earlier.

In this period, more than $98 million of shrimps were exported from the country, accounting for 32% of the total export value of the fishery products, the report added.

Russia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and China were the main buyers of the Iranian shrimp in this period.

IRICA pointed out that 24,000 tons of fishery products, valued at $72 million, were imported into the country, showing a 121 and a 113 percent hike in weight and value respectively compared to the same period the year before, IRNA reported.

Iran mainly imported fishery products from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ghana and Seychelles in Africa in the previous Iranian calendar year, IRICA added.
