Europe Must Raise Voice in Support of Palestine: Amirabdollahian


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Describing the Gaza crisis as a test for the legitimacy of the values the Europeans have been always advocating for, the foreign minister of Iran called on Europe to raise its voice for justice on the issue of Palestine.

In a post on his X account on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian congratulated the European people on the “Europe Day 2024” which commemorates the vision of a united, peaceful, and thriving Europe.

“On this special day all who worked for peace and prosperity for Europe should be mindful on the peace and security all over the world,” he stated.

“What is happening in Gaza weigh heavy on the conscience of humanity and is a crucial test for the legitimacy of values namely human rights and dignity that Europeans claiming working for. The Europe must raise its voice for justice on the issue of Palestine,” Amirabdollahian stated.

“Iran stands ready to continue to work and engage with Europe based on respect, constructive dialogue, cooperation for mutual interests and peace and security in the world,” the foreign minister added.

The Europe Day was celebrated on May 9 while around 80,000 Palestinians fled Rafah in the Gaza Strip and thousands more are still attempting to leave as the Israeli regime’s ground invasion ramps up.

At least 34,904 people have been killed and 78,514 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7, 2023.
