India Adheres to Its Commitments for Developing Iran’s Chabahar Port: Envoy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – India’s ambassador to Iran said that New Delhi adheres to its commitment for the development of strategic Chabahar Port in Iran.

Senior officials of the two countries have emphasized expanding bilateral relations in all areas and giant steps have been taken in this regard, Rudra Gaurav Shresth noted during a visit to Chabahar Port.

He inspected the infrastructures and equipment installed at Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar.

The Indian envoy said that a new chapter of cooperation will soon open between the two countries with the installation of advanced equipment at the port.

Emphasizing that India is committed to installing equipment at Chabahar Port, he added that port terminals, equipment and installations have been developed at Shahid Beheshti Port and these infrastructures are effective both in import and export.

Iran’s deputy minister of roads and urban development, who accompanied the Indian ambassador during the visit, pointed to the activation of maritime transport diplomacy in the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi and fulfillment of maritime negotiations with Persian Gulf littoral states, India and Central Asian countries, and added that neighboring states have been keen to invest at Iranian ports, especially the Chabahar Port, according to IRNA.

Ali Akbar Safaei added that the Chabahar Port has the nearest transit route to the Commonwealth Independent States (CIS) and today, different transit cargoes from neighboring states are loaded and forwarded by container ships of the Chabahar Port to the ports in India.
