IRGC Vows 'Special Revenge' for Israeli Strike

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A top IRGC commander recommended Israel to brace itself for “a special reprisal” for recent deadly strike on a Hezbollah convoy in Syria.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Lieutenant Commander Brigadier General Hossein Salami gave an assurance on Saturday that a proper retaliatory attack awaits the Tel Aviv regime, specifically devised in response to its recent offensive on Syria’s Golan Heights.

Six members of Hezbollah plus an IRGC general were killed on January 18 when an Israeli military helicopter hit their convoy in Syria’s southwestern region of Quneitra.

Brigadier General Salami also unveiled plans to stretch the anti-Israeli battlefield to the ocuupied West Bank.

“Opening up a new front across the West Bank, which is a major section of our dear Palestine, will be certainly on the agenda, and this is part of a new reality that will gradually emerge,” he said in interview with al-Alam Arabic language TV news network.

The issue of arming the West Bank, like the Gaza Strip, attracted a great deal of attention after Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei underlined the necessity for armed confrontation with Israel.

Back in July 2014, Ayatollah Khamenei described the armed resistance as the only way to confront the “destructive regime” of Israel, noting, “Based on these realities, we believe that the West Bank should also be armed like Gaza and those who are interested in Palestine’s destiny should act in this regard in order to relieve Palestinians’ distress.”
