Iran Downs Afghanistan in AFC U-23 Championship Qualification
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran beat Afghanistan 6-0 in Group C of the 2016 AFC U-23 Championship qualification on Sunday.
Sardar Azmoun scored twice in the 11th and 74th minutes. Mohammad Moradmand (24th), Milad Kamandani (28th), Alireza Jahanbakhsh (38th) and Rouzbeh Cheshmi (60th) also were on target for the Iranian football team.
Iran will face Saudi Arabia, who hammered Nepal 6-0 on Tuesday.
Iran has already defeated Nepal 5-0 and Palestine 3-0 in the group.
Ten group winners and five best second-placed teams from all groups will join host Qatar at the AFC U-23 Championship 2016, with January’s 16-team competition also serving as Asia’s qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Rio.
