Saudis to Pay for Yemen Attacks: IRGC Adviser
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - An adviser to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) cautioned Saudi Arabia about the “heavy price” it will have to pay for the military strikes against Yemen.
“Saudi Arabia will sooner or later pay the heavy price for this military attack and the massacre it has launched in Yemen,” Brigadier General Yadollah Javani told the Tasnim News Agency on Thursday.
“We consider such Saudi move as a continuation of the US invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan,” the general added, recommending the Arab monarchs to learn lessons from what happened to some of their friends in the past.
He said Riyadh and Washington decided to launch a military offensive after they felt their interests are stake in Yemen and they had lost their influence in the Arab country.
The comments came after Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies on March 26 began to militarily interfere in Yemen's internal affairs by launching deadly air strikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
Meanwhile, a military source told Sputnik on Tuesday that the US Navy has also joined Saudi Arabia’s airstrikes against Yemen.
The announcement of US participation is the first one showing a collaboration between the US military and Saudi Arabia in the attack on Yemen.
