China’s Middle East Policy Identical to Iran’s: Envoy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – China’s special envoy on Middle East affairs, Gong Xiaosheng, said his country’s policy toward the regional issues is respect for sovereignty of nations and political solution to the conflicts, like Iran’s view.

In a Tuesday meeting with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian in Tehran, the Chinese envoy deplored the crises in the Middle East and the Saudi-led war on Yemen.

He called on the regional countries to join hands to settle the crises politically.

Xiaosheng also highlighted Iran’s position in the region and voiced Beijing’s preparedness to safeguard peace and stability in the Middle East.

The Iranian diplomat, for his part, elaboratd on Tehran’s diplomatic efforts to put an end to the violence and massacre of civilians in Yemen in the wake a military campaign launched by Saudi Arabian and its allies.

National dialog with the participation of all Yemeni groups in a neutral country along with an immediate end to the Saudi-led attacks is the only way out of crisis in Yemen, Amir Abdollahian stressed.

On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies began to militarily interfere in Yemen's internal affairs by launching deadly air strikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

The Saudi-led coalition, including military forces from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Egypt, Sudan, Bahrain, Morocco, Jordan, and Egypt, has killed hundreds of civilians so far.
