Enemies Using Nuclear Case as Pretext to Break Iran’s Resistance: IRGC Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari warned of the hostile attempts to undermine the Iranian nation’s resistance and force the country to change behavior by turning Iran’s nuclear case the subject of debate.

The enemy's main purpose is to force Iran to change its behavior, namely supporting the oppressed and battling the tyranny, the top commander said in a gathering of IRGC commanders on Saturday evening.

The adversaries have falsely assumed that they are able to change Iran’s attitude through nuclear negotiations and imposition of economic sanctions, he added.

Major General Jafari then hailed nuclear technology as a determining factor in the scientific progress, describing that as a symbol of the Iranian nation’s persistence in safeguarding its unalienable rights.

In relevant comments on Thursday, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei had stressed that any agreement on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program has to stipulate Iran’s “scientific and technical developments in different dimensions”.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on April 2 reached a framework nuclear agreement after more than a week of intensive negotiations in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final, comprehensive accord until the end of June.

The framework provides a series of solutions that will be the basis of a comprehensive joint plan of action.
