Austria Prepares to Host New Round of Iran Nuclear Talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Austria’s Foreign Ministry announced that representatives from Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) will begin a fresh round of talks on Tehran’s nuclear energy program in Vienna, beginning April 22.

"Talks between technical experts will be held on April 22-23, while a meeting of political directors will take place on April 24," Sputnik quoted Austrian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Martin Weiss as saying on Monday.

According to Weiss, the meeting of political directors will last only one day.

Meanwhile, Iran’s deputy foreign minister and senior nuclear negotiator, Abbas Araqchi, said in Tehran on Monday that the upcoming talks will begin on April 22 in Vienna at the level of deputy foreign ministers.

Iran and the six powers are in talks to hammer out a lasting accord that would end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran's peaceful nuclear energy program.

On April 2, the two sides reached a framework nuclear agreement after more than a week of intensive negotiations in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final deal until the end of June.
