IRGC Power Deters Enemies from Mulling Battle with Iran: Armed Forces

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The outstanding role of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has discouraged the country's adversaries from taking any military action against Iran, the Iranian Armed Forces General Staff said.

"The position and role of the IRGC in boosting the country's national might and deterrent power… has seriously frightened the enemies of the (Islamic) Revolution in such a way that it has restrained them (the foes) from thinking of another real and hard battle against the Iranian nation," the Armed Forces General Staff said in a statement on Tuesday on the anniversary of the official establishment of the IRGC.

It also noted that the IRGC and other armed forces of the Islamic Republic are the "iron fist" of the Iranian nation in the face of the enemies, giving an assurance that anyone who dares make a threat against Iran will bitterly regret it.

The IRGC was established after the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran to defend the country against foreign threats and to safeguard the values and accomplishments of the revolution.

According to Article 150 of the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, "The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, organized in the early days of the triumph of the Revolution (1979), is to be maintained so that it may continue in its role of guarding the Revolution and its achievements. The scope of the duties of this Corps, and its areas of responsibility, in relation to the duties and areas of responsibility of the other Armed Forces, are to be determined by law with emphasis on brotherly cooperation and harmony among them."
