Strikes Continue to Hit Air Passengers in Belgium

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A work-to-rule strike by the Federal Police at Brussels airport is causing delays for passengers Tuesday for the second day running.

The police unions initially took the action over a lack of staff. Following a meeting at the Ministry of the Interior, it was announced that the action would be prolonged.

The action is due to continue until April 24.

The work to rule, which will see the police methodically carry out passport checks, affects all passengers traveling to and from non-Schengen areas.

A statement on the Brussels airport website advises all passengers to arrive at least three hours before their flight time, as long delays are expected, Xinhua reported.

Delays on flights are also anticipated.

This is the second time in April that air travel has been disrupted at Brussels airport. Earlier in the month, a strike by French air traffic controllers caused delays and cancellations to flights to and from the Belgian capitalEnditem.
