Iran Seeks Peace, Stability in Region: Deputy FM
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi referred to the complicated conditions in the Middle East and underlined that Tehran pursues regional stability and calm.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran's objective is the establishment of peace and stability in the region through dialogue and peaceful ways," Sarmadi said Monday in a meeting with Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Katarzyna Kacperczyk, who is in Tehran on an official visit.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian diplomat highlighted the "good and historical" ties between Tehran and Warsaw and called for promoting the level of bilateral relations in the fields of economy, trade, agriculture, industry and new technologies.
He added that the Islamic Republic is keen to boost political, scientific and cultural ties with Poland.
Kacperczyk, for her part, urged the expansion of political, economic and cultural interactions between the two countries.
She also referred to regional crises, including the war on Yemen, and underscored the need for resolving them politically.
Heading a 100-strong Polish business delegation, Kacperczyk arrived in Tehran on Sunday for a two-day visit to explore new avenues for bilateral relations.
The delegation also includes top directors from Poland's ministries of foreign affairs, agriculture, economy, and natural environment.
Iranian Ambassador to Poland Ramin Mehmanparast has said that the volume of trade between Iran and Poland is currently around €100 million annually, but the two countries plan to boost the figure to €1 billion in the short term.
