Branko Ivankovic Praises Persepolis's Fans in Match against Bunyodkor
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Coach Branko Ivankovic thanked Persepolis's fans at the end of the match against Bunyodkor in the 2015 AFC Champions League group stage.
The Iranian giant secured a place in the Round of 16 with a 2-1 win over the Uzbek team Wednesday night.
Now, Persepolis will face Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal in Tehran in the first leg on May 19.
"First of all, I would like to thank the fans who supported us in this game. I'm proud of our fans who gave such enthusiasm to my players," said Ivankovic in the post-match news conference.
"We put Bunyodkor under pressure from the beginning. When there are a lot of players in defense it's very difficult to make opportunities on goal but we could score and beat them," the Croat said.
"We were in the toughest group alongside with the Saudi Arabian champion, the Qatari champion and the best team in Uzbekistan. Despite a lot of problems inside the club, we managed to get the three points," Ivankovic added.
