Final Nuclear Deal at Hand: Iran’s President
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said a great deal of mutual understanding has been developed in the nuclear talks between Tehran and world powers, reiterating that a lasting agreement depends on the other side to show the necessary determination.
“We have reached mutual understanding in a host of fields, and if the other side has the necessary determination, the final agreement will be achievable,” Rouhani said in a telephone conversation with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev on Sunday.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are in talks to hammer out a lasting accord that would end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran's peaceful nuclear program.
Elsewhere in the conversation, President Rouhani praised Kazakhstan as a “respectable friend” which Iran has always trusted in the regional and international issues.
For his part, Nazarbayev called for the enhancement of Iran-Kazakhstan ties in all arenas.
He also hoped for the progress of nuclear talks between Tehran and world powers on an appropriate track that would lead to final results.
On April 2, Iran and the six powers reached a framework nuclear agreement in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final deal until the end of June.
Diplomats from Iran and the EU wrapped up the latest round of negotiations in New York and are slated to resume the talks in Vienna on May 12 to press on with the task of drafting the comprehensive deal.
