US Aware of Iran's Deterrence Capabilities: Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian commander dismissed Washington's war rhetoric against Tehran as a bluff, saying the US is fully aware that making any wrong move against the Islamic Republic would be tantamount to endangering its own existence.

Speaking Wednesday in an address to a gathering of forces from the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Basij (volunteer forces) in Dashtestan in the southern province of Bushehr, IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi highlighted Iran’s military capabilities in the face of any foreign threat against the country.

The Americans are aware of Iran’s deterrence capabilities, the commander stated.

The Americans know very well that if they take any action against the Islamic Revolution, not only won’t it inflict any damage on the revolution but it will endanger their own existence, he underscored.

Rear Admiral Fadavi made the remarks in response to recent comments made by some White House officials on the possibility of using the military option against Iran in case of the failure of nuclear talks between Tehran and six world powers.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Tehran has always assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to the regional countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
