Iranian Borders Fully Secure: Intelligence Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Intelligence Minister Seyed Mahmoud Alawi on Saturday made assurances that the country's borders enjoy a high level of security.

"Despite the fact that security problems mainly occur along countries' borders and that there is much insecurity in Iran's neighboring countries…, there is full and exemplary security across the country and along our borders," Alawi said in a speech in the central province of Yazd.

"If someone makes a wrong move, the Islamic Republic of Iran's forces will immediately put them in their place," he underscored.

Since the outbreak of an armed rebellion in Iraq staged by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group, Iranian military officials have underlined the high level of safety along the country's border areas, including along the joint borders with neighboring Iraq.

Earlier on May 28, Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan stressed that any hostile move by the ISIL terrorist group against Iran will be nipped in the bud.

The terrorist group lacks the capability and capacity to pose a threat to the Iranian borders, and "we do not deem it a threat," Dehqan said at the time.

"Definitely, the power of Iran's security, military and law enforcement forces stands at a level that they can foil any move by that group (ISIL) before it even makes a move," he added.
