Borders Safe: Iran's Police Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran's Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari gave an assurance on Saturday that security prevails along the country's entire border areas.

"At the moment, the security condition of all borders is appropriate and the military and security forces stationed along the borders are fully prepared," the general told Tasnim on Saturday, when asked about Iran's readiness to counter the possible threats posed by the ISIL terrorist group.

Earlier on May 28, Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan stressed that any hostile move by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group against Iran will be nipped in the bud.

The Takfiri group lacks the capability and capacity to pose a threat to the Iranian borders, and "we do not deem it a threat," Dehqan said at the time.

"Definitely, the power of Iran's security, military and law enforcement forces stands at a level that they can foil any move by that group (ISIL) before it even makes a move," he added.
