Iran's Army Boosts Range, Precision of Missiles: Commander
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said the force has extended the range and precision of its missiles.
Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Tuesday, the commander said the upgrade in the Ground Force's missiles has been made in cooperation with the country's defense industry sector.
Pourdastan said the new missiles were test-fired in a large-scale military drill a couple of months ago.
Back on May 21, the Army Ground Force launched the 27th edition of Beit ul-Muqaddas exercises in three operational zones across Iran.
During the second phase of the war game, Iranian missiles "Naze'at" and "Fajr-5" were fired in the region of Aran and Bidgol, located in the central province of Isfahan.
Different Ground Force units from the infantry, armored, artillery and rapid reaction divisions, as well as commandos and airborne forces took part in the weeklong drills.
Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.
Tehran has always assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to the regional countries, saying that the Islamic Republic's defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
