Chinese FM to Return to Vienna Nuclear Talks on Monday

VIENNA (Tasnim) – A Chinese negotiator said on Saturday that China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi will return to the Austrian capital of Vienna on Monday to take part in the ongoing talks over Tehran's nuclear energy program.

"The exact time of the foreign minister's return on Monday depends on the scope and pace of progress in the talks," Wang Chun, the senior Chinese negotiator, told the Tasnim News Agency.

He further described as "very good" the current pace of progress in the talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, US, Britain, France, and Germany), adding that, "There seem to have been good interactions in the talks between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency."

Iran and the six world powers have been negotiating over the past 22 months to end more than a decade of standoff over Tehran's civilian nuclear program once and for all.

The two sides are busy negotiating in the Austrian capital to clinch a nuclear deal.

On Tuesday, the parties gave themselves an extra week beyond an end-June deadline to nail down details of the long-awaited accord.
