Iran’s Moradi Claims Silver at IPC Powerlifting Asian Open Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Nader Moradi won a silver medal at the 2015 IPC Powerlifting Asian Open Championships on Monday.

The Iranian lifter won the silver with 213kg in the Men’s up to 72kg.

Iraqi Beijing 2008 silver medallist Rasool Mohsin eased into competition at the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace with a 212kg first lift, before adding 2kg to the world best in the second round with 222kg. Buoyed by his form, the 27-year-old then secured victory with a 225kg third attempt.

Bronze medal went to Jordan’s Abdelkareem Mohammad Khattab with 205kg.

Iranian Amir Jafari Arangeh (192kg) had already improved on his own Asian record in the men’s up to 59kg, adding 4kg onto the regional best.

The Almaty 2015 IPC Powerlifting Asian Open Championships will run until July 30 and feature more than 220 athletes from 32 countries in one of the biggest Asian Championships ever.
