Iran’s Farzin Takes Gold at IPC Powerlifting Asian Open Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Majid Farzin won Iran’s second gold medal at the ongoing IPC Powerlifting Asian Open Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Farzin lifted 234kg in the Men's Up to 80kg to seize the gold medal.

Chinese Xiaofei Gu finished in second place with 223kg and Russian Alexander Belov came third with 181kg.

Iranian Amir Jafari Arangeh (192kg) had already improved on his own Asian record in the men’s up to 59kg, adding 4kg onto the regional best.

The Almaty 2015 IPC Powerlifting Asian Open Championships will run until July 30 and feature more than 220 athletes from 32 countries in one of the biggest Asian Championships ever.
