TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran captain Afsaneh Khani is hopeful that they will book their place in the IHF Women's Junior World Championship in Russia.

The Iranian team will start the 13th edition of Asian Women’s Junior Handball Championship facing China on Thursday.

A total of seven teams, including host Kazakhstan, Iran, South Korea, China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Japan will play in round-robin format in Almaty.

“We are going to qualify for the IHF Women's Junior World Championship. I think we are ready to secure a top-five finish and advance to the world Championship,” Khani said in a news conference on Monday.

“Iran can finish ahead of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in the competition,” she added.

The 13th edition of Asian Women's Junior Handball Championship will open in Kazakhstan on August 6, and wrap up on August 14.
