Joint Exports, Iran’s Top Priority in Ties with Europe: President Rouhani

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday hailed the capacities for cooperation between Tehran and European states, saying that Iran looks for joint exports to regional markets in its ties with Europe.

European countries, Italy in particular, enjoy abundant capacities for cooperation with Islamic Republic of Iran, Rouhani said in a meeting with the visiting Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni and Minister of Economic Development Federica Guidi in Tehran.

“Iran’s top priority in promotion of economic relations with European countries is the transfer of capital and technology to Iran and then joint exports to regional markets," Rouhani added.

“Today, there are numerous fields for attracting foreign investments to the country, particularly in the fields of energy, banking, insurance, industries, transportation and health,” the Iranian president added.

He went on to say that Iran and Europe should take advantage of the good atmosphere created after the nuclear conclusion reached between Tehran and world powers on July 14.

The Iranian president touched upon Iran's historical ties with Italy, saying that there is no barrier to the development of Tehran-Rome cooperation.

“The two countries can start a new chapter of bilateral ties in different political, economic, cultural, scientific, and tourism fields,” he added.

During the meeting, Gentiloni delivered an invitation by the Italian Premier Matteo Renzi for Rouhani to visit the European country.

The Iranian president appreciated the invitation and expressed the hope that he would pay a visit to the ancient and culturally-rich country of Italy in an appropriate time.
