Omani, Syrian FMs Discuss Ways to End Crisis in Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Oman's Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah and his Syrian counterpart Walid al-Muallem held a meeting in the Omani capital on Thursday during which they stressed joint effort to end ongoing crisis in Syria.

A report by Oman News Agency (ONA) said the two sides discussed “several regional and international topics of common interest.”

Meantime, Syria’s official SANA news agency reported that the two top diplomats agreed "that now is the time to unite the efforts to end this (Syrian) crisis.”

"The two sides agreed to continue cooperation and coordination to achieve the shared goals of their peoples and governments," SANA said.

Meanwhile, Syria's Al-Watan daily reported that Muallem's Thursday visit to Oman, which was made at the official invitation of Abdullah, was his "first visit to an Arab state in nearly four years."

The newspaper said a meeting between top diplomats from Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia is likely to be held in the Omani capital, Press TV reported.

Earlier this week, Muallem had paid a two-day visit to Tehran where he met with Iranian officials and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visiting special envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov.
