Ground Set for Development of Tehran-Tbilisi Ties: Larijani

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani highlighted the potentials for the expansion of collaborations between Iran and Georgia in various fields, including fossil and renewable energy.

In a Sunday meeting with Deputy Chairman of Georgian Parliament Gubaz Sanikidze in Tehran, Larijani said ground is set for enhanced bilateral ties in political, economic, trade and scientific fields.

He referred to fossil and renewable energy as one of the areas in which the two countries can develop joint cooperation.

Larijani further said the conclusion of nuclear talks between Tehran and world powers has opened a new gate to the expansion of collaborations between Iran and Georgia.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion on a lasting nuclear agreement that would terminate all sanctions imposed on Tehran over its nuclear energy program after coming into force.

Sanikidze, for his part, highlighted the long-lasting amicable ties between Tehran and Tbilisi and said his trip was aimed at enhancing the ties.

He also said Georgia welcomes the nuclear agreement between Iran and the sextet and believes that it would contribute to peace, stability and security in the region.

The Georgian parliamentarian further hailed the Islamic Republic’s “outstanding” status in the region and its positive role in the resolution of regional crises.
