Lebanon’s Hezbollah Ready to Counter Any Possible Threat by Israel: Sheikh Qassem

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement’s second-in-command Sheikh Naim Qassem highlighted the movement’s strong capabilities, saying that its forces are ready to counter ‘any stupid action’ by the Tel Aviv regime.

“We do not believe that current conditions allow Israel to make a (new) aggression against Lebanon,” Sheikh Qassem said in an interview with the Tasnim News Agency.

“The Zionist regime is fully aware that Hezbollah is prepared to counter any possible foolish action by the regime,” the cleric underscored.

The Tel Aviv regime invaded Lebanon in 2006. About 1,200 Lebanese, most of them civilians, were killed in the aggression, known as the 33-Day War.

It started in July 2006, and continued until a United Nations-brokered ceasefire went into effect in the morning on 14 August 2006, though it formally ended on 8 September 2006 when Israel lifted its naval blockade of Lebanon.

In that war, Hezbollah fighters defeated Israel that was only able to commit massacres but failed to achieve any of its military or political objectives.
