German-Iranian Firm to Build Wind Farm in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A German-Iranian firm plans to construct a 48MW wind park in Iran’s southwestern province of Khuzestan, media reports said.

Frank Riesbeck, Development Environment Arvand Company’s project manager, said in an interview with Bloomberg on Wednesday that the firm is seeking to launch the scheme which is estimated to require a total investment of about EUR 40 million (USD 45.9m).

He added that the wind park will be located in the Arvand Free Trade Zone southwest of Iran and is expected to come on stream by the middle of next year.

Iran is trying to boost its installed renewable energy capacity from just 150 MW at present to 5 GW in the coming years in an attempt to decrease its dependence on oil and wean off oil revenues.
