Iran to Start William Jones Cup Basketball with South Korea

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran will play South Korea in the 37th edition of the William Jones Cup Basketball on Saturday.

The 2015 William Jones Cup will be held in Taipei from August 29 to September 6.

Winner of three of the last four FIBA Asia Championships, the Iranian squad includes young players Mohammad Jamshidi, Sajjad Mashayekhi, Arsalan Kazemi, Arman Zanganeh and Bahnam Yakhchali.

Team Melli still features old familiar star players Hamed Haddadi, Samad Nikkhah Bahrami, Mehdi Kamrani, Hamed Afagh and Oshin Sahakian under new coach Dirk Bauermann from Germany.

Iran is preparing for 2015 FIBA Asia Championship which will be held in at Changsha, China from September 23 to October 3.

William Jones Cup is an international basketball tournament held annually in Taipei. It was named after Renato William Jones, a basketball performer and one of the founders of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA)
