Syrian Minister Meets Iranian Reporter in Hospital

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian information minister visited an Iranian television reporter in Syria's Darraj Hospital in western city of Latakia.

Omran al-Zoubi Saturday visited Mohammad Hassan Hosseini, field correspondent for the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), who was critically injured in a mortar attack while covering from the Syrian battlefields in the port city of Latakia, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.

During the meeting, al-Zoubi said  that “resistant” media outlets are heavily involved in stemming the spread of false news about Syria.

The Syrian information minister, who was accompanied by Iranian Ambassador to Damascus Mohammad Reza Sheibani, also said Iranian and Syrian media are working single-handedly in spreading the truth and battling against Israeli and Takfiri misinformation campaigns.

Hosseini, 45, was attacked on Monday afternoon by a mortar shell fired by Takfiri terrorists while covering an anti-terrorist operation by the Syrian army in Latakia heights.

The IRIB reporter was transferred to a local hospital immediately and admitted in ICU, where he could regain his consciousness.

Doctors say he will be transferred to a hospital in Damascus if his conditions improve.

Syria has been gripped with civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists from various groups, including ISIL, currently controlling parts of it.

According to the United Nations, more than 220,000 people have been killed and one million wounded during the conflict.
