US, Israel Behind Iraq’s Turmoil: Iranian Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Vice speaker of Iran’s parliament laid the blame for the conflicts in Iraq on the spy agencies of the US and Israel.

Infiltration of the CIA and Mossad into Iraq has caused problems in the Arab country, Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard said on Monday, in an address to the Second International Congress of 17,000 Iranian Terror Victims, held in Tehran.

He added that plots against Iraqi people have been hatched by the enemies of Islam.

In the past, when Iraq was being led by the religious authorities, all Shiite and Sunni Muslims were living in unity under the teachings of the holy Quran, he noted, stressing that the current situation in Iraq has been caused by US and Israeli spy agencies’ conspiracies.

Last week, Iraqi sources told Tasnim that embassies of the US and some other regional states in Baghdad are involved in a scheme to create chaos in Iraq under the guise of civil protests.

According to the reports, the embassies of the US, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar in Baghdad have made a series of clandestine contacts with dismissed Iraqi officials to provoke unrest in the Arab nation and undermine its political processes concurrent with some civil protests.

According to informed sources, the US embassy is well aware that the demonstrators only demand better civil services and a more serious fight against corruption, but Washington has plans to misuse the protests to “sow sedition, create chaos and derail the political processes” in Iraq.
