Iran’s Advanced Radars Come into Service

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Two advanced Iranian radar systems were integrated into the country’s air defense network on Tuesday morning.

The homegrown systems, Nazir and Bina, became operational in a special ceremony in Tehran.

Nazir is a long-range radar with high resolution. As a suitable option against the anti-radiation missiles, Nazir is capable of detecting targets with pretty small cross-section areas in ranges of 800 kilometers and at 100,000-feet altitudes.

The other one, Bina, is 3-dimensional radar that can identify radar-evading targets and be employed for electronic warfare.

The indigenous systems had been unveiled on Saturday by Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili.

Iran has in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, including the air defense systems that use cutting edge technologies.

Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military power is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.
