Iranian FM: Nuclear Talks No Threat to Other Countries

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif described the conclusion of nuclear negotiations between Tehran and world powers as an opportunity for diplomacy, stressing that it poses no threat to any country.

Speaking in a meeting with Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal in Algiers on Tuesday, Zarif pointed to the conclusion of nuclear talks with the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), and said the settlement of the nuclear issue provides an opportunity for diplomacy in the Middle East.

It was a sign that they (the Western powers) cannot use the language of threat in their talks with independent and developing countries but should use the language of respect and honor, he noted.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian top diplomat voiced the country’s readiness to hold dialogue with regional states to settle their problems.

The Algerian premier, for his part, praised the good relations between Iran and the North African country and said, “We are determined to take great strides toward the promotion of bilateral relations in the new atmosphere caused by the nuclear agreement.”

Iran and the Group 5+1 on July 14 reached a conclusion on a lasting nuclear agreement that would terminate all sanctions imposed on Tehran over its nuclear energy program after coming into force.
