Iran Beats Philippines at William Jones Cup

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The reigning FIBA Asia champion Iran defeated the Philippines 74-65 on Thursday in the 37th William Jones Cup.

Hamed Haddadi led Iran with 22 points and 15 rebounds.

The 42-year old Asi Taulava had 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks for the Philippines.

Iran basketball team, who is preparing for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship, will play Chinese Taipei A on Friday.

William Jones Cup is an international basketball tournament held annually in Taipei. It was named after Renato William Jones, a basketball performer and one of the founders of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
