Iran’s Lariani: Different Era of Iran-West Relations Started after Vienna Deal
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani underlined that the nuclear agreement recently reached between Tehran and six world powers has started a new era in the relations between the Islamic Republic and the Western countries.
“The agreement initiated a different era in the relations between Iran and the West,” Larijani said in a meeting with an elite circle of Iranian expatriates living in the US on the sidelines the fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in New York on Thursday.
“The deal is under examination in the country,” he said, adding that although it has some flaws, it is generally positive.
The Iranian parliamentarian went on to say that however, the implementation of the agreement is of high importance.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani called on the Iranian businessmen and merchants to actively participate in the country’s economy and take into consideration investment in various industrial sectors.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion on a lasting nuclear agreement that would terminate all sanctions imposed on Tehran over its nuclear energy program after coming into force.
The promising prospect of trade with Iran has prompted major European countries to explore the market potential in the populous Middle East nation.
The 159-page deal has its own opponents and proponents both in Iran and the other countries that are parties to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), particularly the US.
While the United Nations Security Council has adopted a resolution to endorse the deal, the text of the document needs to be ratified by both Iran and the US Congress.
