Tehran, Berlin Eager to Boost Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ranking diplomats from Iran and Germany voiced enthusiasm for closer relations between the two countries.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi had a meeting with Germany’s Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on Tuesday.

Their talks focused mainly on Iran-Germany ties and issues of mutual interest.

Hailing the conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 – to which Germany itself is a member– Steinmeier called for the expansion of ties with Iran in all fields.

The Iranian diplomat, for his part, said the Islamic Republic is prepared to bolster relations with Germany.

The meetings came against the backdrop of a new wave of renewed interest in ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program.

The comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.

Experts believe that Iran’s economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
