Britain’s Economic Delegation Due in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A high-ranking economic delegation from Britain will pay an official visit to Tehran in the coming days to hold talks with Iranian economic officials on various issues, including investment projects in the Islamic Republic.

The 24-member delegation, headed by Martin Johnston, the director general of British-Iranian Chamber of Commerce, is slated to arrive in Tehran on October 2 and meet with high-raking Iranian officials.

The delegation, which includes representatives of major British oil and gas companies, will hold talks to actively work in the Iranian market.

It will be the first trip to Iran by a British trade delegation at this level over the past decade.

The visit comes against the backdrop of a recent nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers.

There has been a new wave of renewed interest in ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program.

The comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.

Experts believe that Iran’s economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
