Iran’s Rafsanjani, Croatia’s Speaker Discuss Terrorism, Mutual Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and the visiting speaker of the Croatia’s parliament, Josip Leko, exchanged views on issues of terrorism and bilateral relations.

At the meeting held in Tehran on Monday, Ayatollah Rafsanjani told Leko that the world should mobilize to prevent the spread of the virus of terrorism.

Rafsanjani called on the Croatian lawmaker to remind the European countries of this bitter fact, adding that an international coalition with good intention is required to fight terrorism.

Leko, for his part, described Ayatollah Rafsanjani remarks on terrorism as “wise”, and said if the framework of his plan is fully implemented, the region will get rid of terrorist groups and calmness will be restored.

“If all countries in the region cooperate with Iran, spread of terrorism mainly to Europe will be halted,” he said.

As regards bilateral ties, the Croatian parliament speaker said Iran is the most significant economic partner for Croatia and commercial, political and economic cooperation between the two sides continued even during the era of anti-Iran sanctions.

He noted that Croatian officials are to make plans to expand mutual cooperation and the current visit to Iran is part of the effort to that end.
