Bodies of More Iranian Victims of Mina Crush to Be Back Home: Deputy FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Thursday said the bodies of over 80 more Iranian pilgrims killed in the recent crush in Mina, Saudi Arabia, will be repatriated soon.

Amir Abdollahian on Thursday expressed the hope that they will arrive in Iran within 48 hours.

He also said that a file containing the fingerprints of 69 Iranians who went missing in the tragic incident has been sent to Saudi Arabia to help determine their fate.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Amir Abdollahian stressed that the foreign ministry will pursue the Mina tragedy through legal and political channels, adding that serious meetings have been held in this regard since Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif returned from a trip to New York on Wednesday.

On September 24, a total of 465 Iranians lost their lives in the crush of pilgrims in Mina, near Mecca, when performing religious rites.

Many Iranian pilgrims still remain missing following the tragic event.

Iranian officials say some 4700 Hajj pilgrims from different countries died in the tragedy.
