SHIRAZ (Tasnim) - Persepolis (Takht-e Jamshid in Persian) was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire (ca. 550–330 BC). It is situated 60 km northeast of the city of Shiraz in Fars Province, Iran.
