Car Bomb Blast Kills Governor of Syria's Hama

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The governor of Syria's Hama, Anas al-Naem, was killed Sunday when a booby-trapped car went off in the central province, the state media said.

The governor was killed when the car bomb tore through the Garajmeh district of Hama, the report said, adding that the Syrian cabinet officially mourns al-Naem.

No further details surrounding the incident were provided but the report said the governor was "martyred by the hands of the criminal gangs while conducting his national duty."

Several officials have been assassinated since the start of the country's crisis 29 months ago, Xinhua reported.
