Bomb Blast Wounds 8 Civilians in Northern Afghan Town

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A bomb blast rocked a bazaar in Charbolak district of the northern Balkh province injuring at least eight civilians on Saturday, a local official said.

"The explosive device planted on a motorbike and went off in the bazaar of Charbolak district at around 08:30 a.m. local time today, injuring eight civilians, according to preliminary investigation," spokesman for provincial government Farhad Munir told Xinhua.

However, he added that investigation is underway to determine the reason for the bloody blast and the exact figure of casualties.

Meanwhile, an eye witness said on condition of anonymity said that one person has been killed and some 20 others sustained injuries in the blast.

According to the eye witness, the person lost his life is a police constable and the injured have been taken to hospitals for medical treatment.

Police Chief of Charbolak district Aghai Rogh confirmed the blast but declined to give details, saying a press release will be issued after the investigation is completed.
