Cleric: Enemies Confronting Islamic Awakening by Sowing Discord among Muslims

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A prominent Iranian cleric said on Wednesday enemies of the Islamic nations have resorted to plots such as sowing sectarian discord and supporting the Takfiri groups to undermine the Islamic Awakening movement.

Addressing thousands of Tehrani worshipers at the central campus of Tehran University, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Movahhedi Kermani said the enemies are bent on sowing discord among Muslims with the aim of thwarting Islamic unity.

He made the address on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, which marks the end of the hajj pilgrimage and is one of the most significant holidays on the Muslim calendar.

He said that the foreign powers equip and arm the Takfiri terrorist groups and commission them to harm Muslims, adding that the US and Israel are complicit in all the crimes such groups have committed and the plight they have afflicted on the Islamic nations.

Ayatollah Movahhedi Kermani also said that the enemies try to keep the Muslims unaware so that they can continue with their plots.

He was echoing remarks by the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution said in his Tuesday message to Hajj pilgrims this year.

"The opposing camp which cannot tolerate Islamic Awakening and the dignity of Muslims has entered the arena with all its power and it is using all kinds of psychological, military, security, economic and propaganda tools to suppress Muslims, make them inactive and busy them with trivial things," read part of the Leader's message.
