Iran Deputy FM Briefs German Counterpart on Proposal’s Details

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister and 2nd top nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi in a Wednesday evening meeting with his German counterpart Hans-Dieter Lucas briefed him on details of Iran’s newly proposed nuclear package.

The Iranian new proposal was also a topic of Wednesday discussions of the Iran-G5+1 talks in Geneva, according to the involved officials and diplomats.

The Iranian delegation, led by Seyed Abbas Araqchi, also had two rounds of consultations with the Russian delegation, led by Sergei Ryabkov.

Araqchi and US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman held a bilateral meeting on Tuesday after the first day of the two-day negotiations over Iran’s nuclear energy program came to an end.

The meeting capped a day that began with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif laying out, in an hour-long English language PowerPoint presentation on a plan to resolve the nuclear dispute.

The one-on-one meeting followed the precedent set last month when US Secretary of State John  Kerry and Zarif met privately in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

According to Araqchi, the plan called "An End to the Unnecessary Crisis and a Beginning for Fresh Horizons" had many new ideas and the capacity to make a breakthrough.
