First VP Congratulates New Norwegian PM on Taking Office

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri in a message to the new Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg congratulated her on her appointment to the post.

Jahangiri has in the message hoped for ever-more expansion of relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Norway during Prime Minister Solberg’s tenure.

Erna Solberg, head of Norway’s Conservative Party, became country’s prime minister on October 16. She has been the leader of the Conservative Party since 2004.

Norwegians voted in a Conservative ruling party led by Erna Solberg in early September, ending an eight-year tenure of former Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg that was marked by economic stability and an unprecedented domestic terror attack.

Iran and Norway called for expansion of their relations in diverse areas in mid-July, 2013.

The issue was raised in a meeting between Head of Iran-Norway Parliamentary Friendship Group Vahid Ahmadi and Norwegian Ambassador to Iran Jens-Petter Kjemprud in Tehran.
