S. Korean Parliamentary Delegation Due in Tehran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A two-member parliamentary delegation from South Korea is scheduled to arrive in Tehran on Monday night to meet a number of high-ranking Iranian officials.

A South Korean delegation led by Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Trade and Unification Committee of the Republic of Korea’s National Assembly Ahn Hong-joon will arrive in Tehran for a three-day visit on Monday night, November 18.

During their stay in Tehran, the South Korean lawmakers are expected to hold separate meetings with a number of Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Chairman of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Borujerdi.

In a separate development on October 29, a four-member Iranian parliamentary delegation, led by Kazem Jalali, head of the Parliament’s Research Center, went to Seoul to take part in the 5th Seminar of Parliamentary Research Centers.

Iran has proposed to be the host country for the 6th seminar of the kind and the proposal has been approved by the member counties.

Iran and South Korea are both members of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and have extensive trade ties. The volume of non-oil trade transactions between the two was $6.2bln in 2012.
