TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A team of Iranian legislators, all members of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, plan to pay a visit to the country’s nuclear enrichment facilities in Fordo in the near future, a senior lawmaker announced.

Vice Chairman of Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mansour Haqiqatpour told the Tasnim News Agency on Tuesday that members of the influential commission are set to visit the country’s nuclear fuel enrichment facilities in Fordo.

Haqiqatpour said that the exact date of lawmakers’ visit to Fordo facilities has not been set yet.

During the visits, he explained, the lawmakers will receive the latest information about the ongoing ctivities in the site.

He added that the visit will come afer similar visits conducted by the commission members to the other nuclear facilities, including Arak heave water facility.

Tehran has agreed to the most intrusive inspection and monitoring regime ever imposed on a signatory of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT), as it will allow the IAEA to inspect daily its facilities in Natanz and Fordo. For the first time, the country would also allow inspection and monitoring of its centrifuge manufacturing facilities and its uranium mines and mills.

The Arak facility produces heavy water intended for use in a nearby research reactor that is under construction. As part of its agreement with the powers in November, Iran is to halt installation work at the reactor and stop making fuel for it.
